Born in Kafr El Sheikh in 1951, Abdelwahab Abdelmohsen is a leading Egyptian artist and academic who graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Alexandria in 1976 and later earned a PhD from Helwan University. He has played an influential role as an educator and cultural initiator, founding projects such as the Burullus International Forum, while exhibiting extensively in Europe and Asia. His works are held in major public collections including the Egyptian Museum of Modern Art, and in 2025 he received the State Appreciation Award for his lifetime contribution.
His artistic practice is rooted in printmaking, relief carving, and mixed media, drawing inspiration from the natural landscapes of the Nile Delta. Through layered forms and contemplative abstraction, his work reflects a meditative engagement with nature, material, and rhythm.
